Name Elias Constantopedos
Biography Composer/Producer Elias Constantopedos was born in Sydney, Australia, where he studied composition and piano at the Conservatorium of Music. He moved to New York in 2009 and has recently completed a Masters of Composition (film scoring) at New York University under Mark Consoli, Mike Patterson and Ira Newborn.From a young age, his compositions have been performed throughout Australia, by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Chronology arts ensemble, Sydney Conservatorium Orchestra, Roh Percussion and Alicia Crossley. receiving broadcast of 2MBS FM and ABC Classic FM. He won the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Cybec composers competition, receiving a commission and performance as part of the Metropolis series concerts, conducted by Matthias Pintscher. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra have commissioned a new work to be premiered in September 2012, for the reopening of Hamer Hall, conducted by Andrew Litton.Through a long running collaboration with contemporary dance choreographer Vicki Van Hout, he was composer/producer on several full length dance works including; Wirad Journi (2006), premiered at Riverside Theatre, My Right Foot (2007), as part of an artist residency at the National Choreographic Centre and Briwyant (2008), through a residency at Critial Path and Performance Space, premiered at the Carriage Works theatre. Briwyant has received a 2011 season as part of the Sydney Festival touring across Australia.More recently Elias has collaborated with Choreographer Iain Rowe on Memento, a new work for the Royal Danish Ballet (Feb 2011). He has collaborated with TISCH dance and NYU Journalism school as a composer/sound designer and was employed by Splashlight studios as composer/music editor on the NY Fashion Work documentary; The Tents, premiered at Tribeca Cinemas (2010) and later at SVA Theares, Philadelphia Film Festival and at Lincoln centre in February 2012.He was a composer on the National Gallery Film Festival, writing an original score for the silent Catalonian Film, Gent i Paistage De Catalunya, performed live, conducted by Gillian Anderson. His works have been presented in New York at Le Poisson Rouge, SVA Theatre, the Flea, the Drom, Vaudeville Park, Centre for Perfmance Research, BAAD, and the Brooklyn Festival.In the summer of 2010 he received a scholarship to attend the prestigious EAMA Boulanger summer program in Paris, his work Lysistrata performed at La Schola Cantorum. In 2011, he participated in the NYU/ASCAP film scoring program under Sean Callery and Mark Snow.He currently works with Wayne Sharpe, as a composer/producer on the internationally acclaimed films Raajneeti (2010), Aarakshan (2011) and Indian Circus (2011), which won the audience award at the Busan Film Festival.
