| Biography | Born and raised in the United States, Gayatri began her training as an actress at Emory University where she pursued a major in Theater. While at Emory she trained under Tim Mcdonough, Vinnie Murphy, Leslie Taylor and Jan Akers. After moving to Mumbai, Gayatri trained with renowned theatre personality Satyadev Dubey, who urged her to sit in on Makrand Deshpande's rehearsals to learn the finer nuances of performance. Later she continued her acting training with Veena Mehta, a former National School of Drama teacher, who taught her not only to let go of any remaining inhibitions, but also the nuances of Hindi unbeknownst to a non native Hindi speaker. Gayatri is a firm believer in practice makes perfect and commits herself to every role she undertakes with absolute sincerity, hard work, and passion.As an Actress, Gayatri is best known for her critically acclaimed lead role in the Hindi Film 'Let's Dance' produced by Advait Entertainment, Ltd. Her work in Let's Dance proved her stealth as a seamless actress and dancer.On Television, Gayatri recently shot for a pilot -Inevitable- in Atlanta, directed by Anthony McHie. Gayatri has starred as a guest artiste on Yash Raj's TV Show- Rishta.Com - playing the role of Husna. Additionally she has starred in four music videos opposite Jugal Hansraj for the Album Mashooqa produced by Venus Entertainment. Her work in Ad films includes commercials for Samsung Refrigerator and Filmfare Magazine.On the stage she is most noted for her work in Theater Emory's production of Chekhov's Three Sisters as Irina, Snehal Desai's interpretation of Marisol as Marisol, Neeraj Kabir's Hamlet as Ophelia, and has understudied Carolyn Cook in Vinnie Murphy's Discovery of America. |
