Holy Smoke!: 'Dhuan' Delay Paves Way For 'Agneepath'

There cannot be smoke without fire', goes the old cliche'. However, next year's Republic Day will definitely disprove that theory, as far as Bollywood is concerned at least. Got the point? No Dhuan… only 'Agni'! Oops, sorry,... Agneepath, that is.

Buzz has it that Aamir Khan's top cop thriller Dhuan is no longer releasing on January 26, 2012, instead will make way for Dharma Productions' venture Agneepath starring Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra.

Grapevine suggests that perfectionist Aamir Khan, who reportedly did not want his movie release to clash with Priyadarshan's multi-starrer Tezz starring Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor on Republic Day decided to postpone his release to another date. However, when producer Karan Johar heard about this development, he immediately decided to jump at the opportunity and pushed the release date of revenge drama Agneepath from January 13 to January 26, 2012.

An excited Karan Johar was quoted to have said, "It was Ritesh Sidhwani who suggested that we take advantage of the national holiday that falls on Thursday, making it a four day weekend and I immediately grabbed the opportunity and decided to change the release dates."

Apart from Agneepath, Republic Day will also witness the release of Tezz and Dibakar Banerjee's political thriller Shanghai.

Three (cinematic) cheers… this Republic Day.
