Name Harish Joshi
Biography Shri Harish Joshi - A Legend "Whether he is an artist or not, the photographer is joyous sensualist, for the simple reason that the eye traffics in feelings, not in thoughts..."Shri Harish Joshi is an accomplished cinematographer whose work includes feature films, television series, advertisements and commercials. Harish Joshi's passion, work ethic and expertise gives him the opportunity to work within any production budget. Harish Joshi has shot various feature films till date making him one of the most experienced DOP in his league. Started as an assistant cameraman, Harish Joshi has grown to the level of DOP with his ever growing hunger for perfection and learning process adapting to the latest technologies and eye for creativity.Harish Joshi started his career with Late Shri Rajan Kinagi many decades ago and along with his "Guruji" (yes, he calls Lt. Rajan Kinagi "Guruji") he has been associated with films like Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Prem ki Diwani Hoon , Saajan Chale Sasural, Raja Babu, Bandhan, Deewana Mastana and Eena Meena Deeka to name a few. He along with Lt. Rajan Kinagi captured breathtaking emotions with ease and portrayed them on the celluloid leaving the viewers speechless and exulted. After the sad demise of Shri Rajan Kinagi, Harishji (as he is fondly called in the film fraternity) took the legacy forward and has continued the legendary and ineffable work with films like Vivah, Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi , Poran Jai Jolia Re (Bengali film - remake of Hindi Hit " Namaste London") , Jihne Mera Dil Lutiya and Don Muthuswamy to name a few.Photography is a way of feeling, touching and loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... It remembers little things long after you have forgotten everything... We know that photography informs people. We also know that photography moves people. The reason we are hooked up to Harishji's photography is because it does both of them, that is, it informs as well as moves you deep inside and an aspiring cinematographer craves for that degree of creativity. For Harishji, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something in an ordinary place... He has found that it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. For him, photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas. It is a creative art. Photography is not a daily routine but it is a creation of beautiful fine art which is larger than life and perhaps even larger in perceptibility.Despite being a beacon and an accomplished cinematographer, Harishji is a man of reclusive type. He is hardly seen in any parties, premieres but likes to be with his family. He interacts with media only for the promotion for his films where he only wants to speak about his work. The humbleness and the sincerity can be seen from the fact that he hardly takes credit for his magnanimous work, instead calls the magic he weaves on the screen "a result of director's vision coupled with production values and excellent team work".This page is dedicated to the sheer brilliance of Harishji which captivates the hearts of millions with his cinematic brilliance and creative deftness which allows him to soar, to roam a territory of sagacity that forget us, even those who are gifted enough to be alongside him cannot even fathom to imagine.Let us enjoy his breathtaking visuals and his uncanny knack of capturing human emotions and celebrations in such a subtle way that you and me feel as if we are a part of the family or for that matter the celebration those are being shown on the celluloid.Well, the below quote can be easily related with Harishji's creative astuteness, pictorial radiance and above all his cinematic prowess which has left all of us spellbound and dumbstruck."When you find yourself beginning to feel a bond between yourself and the people you photograph, when you laugh and cry with their laughter and tears, you will know you are on the right track."
