Ricky's 'ladies' would have to wait longer

Promotion of Ladies V/s Ricky Bahl has started with aplomb and the makers (Yash Raj Films) have shown ample confidence in their Band Baaja Baaraat star Ranveer Singh. So much so that he has turned out to be one individual on whom the entire campaign kick-started, what with music video of 'Aadat Se Majboor' blazing across all music channels. This means that while Ricky Bahl is all over, 'ladies' are conspicuous by their absence.

"Really, where are the ladies", quizzes a film enthusiasts, "Agreed that Ranveer is quite hot-n-happening ever since his debut and has managed to be awake in audience's memory right through the year gone by. However, one does miss the presence of ladies here. Thankfully, Anushka Sharma is now visible with 'Jazba' but where are the other three young ones - Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma?"

Well, one does expect this to be a part of some well formed strategy by the makers as they wanted to establish the character of the central protagonist, a conman played by Ranveer first. However, if one thought that in next four weeks to come, each of the four girls would have a week each to their name then well, that too isn't quite happening.

"The only actress who would be promoted en route to the film's release is Anushka Sharma", confirms a source, "She is in fact the senior most of the lot with as many as four films to her name already. Other than the only film that she did outside Chopras banner, Patiala House (which is incidentally a flop), Anushka has to her name successes like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Badmaash Company and Band Baaja Baaraat. Of course there would be a lot that you would see of her as the film's promotion heats up."

Parineeti Chopra, Dipannita Sharma and Aditi Sharma won't be enjoying as much luck though as they are being kept off media right through the film's promotional drive.

Makers have their own reasons for that though. Says Rafiq Gangjee of Yash Raj Films, "Every film sets & demands its own marketing and promotional strategy. For Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, we felt that it would be so much nicer to let everyone first discover the debutant talent within the world of the film. It will make their introduction more meaningful and respectful. We would prefer their performance to speak first."
