The Dirty Picture, which has been declared a commercial and critical success, now has a chance to win hearts in the neighbouring country too. The Pakistan Censor Board had earlier banned the movie stating that the content of the film was too bold to be released in the country. However yesterday, after a delay of one week, Central Board of Film Censors, Islamabad cleared the film and The Dirty Picture will hit the Pakistani screens today.
The biopic based on South siren Silk Smitha was submitted for review to the Censor Board of Pakistan after it was cleared by the Indian Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Board at that time rejected the film, saying that the film was unsuitable for theatrical release in Pakistan as they believed that the flick was unsuitable for the conservative Pakistani audiences.
Tanuj Garg, the CEO of Balaji Motion picture today announced the news on Twitter, writing, "The Dirty Picture releases in Pak today... Friends from Lahore & Karachi texting that they can't wait to watch it "
Directed by Milan Luthria the film stars Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar Kapoor along side Balan and has been declared a superhit in India
