Biography | An experienced "creative sound designer" and a pioneer in the field of "sync sound technique", Shajith Koyeri has been the man behind many successful executions of sync sound projects (synchronized sound recordings) in Indian cinema. A National award winning sound designer for "Omkara", Shajith also won the prestigious Film fare award for the same. Besides, he is also the recipient of the Star Screen Award for "Kaminey". After having worked on over 70 films and successfully collaborating with accomplished directors on their powerful scripts, Shajith is already being measured as a proficient "creative sound designer" & "creative sound editor" in the Indian Film Industry. He has a specialized expertise in the area of "Post-production of sync sound" and has an actual experience of 55 films to back him up for the same, thus making sure that a perfect synchronization between the audio and picture is achieved successfully. Along with his unmatched skillfulness in location dialogue editing and clean up, Shajith is also known for his outstanding work in Foley editing and premixing. Stationed in Mumbai, today, he is already equipped and well organized with a very talented team to support him on his every endeavor, thus strengthening his vision of developing an output of a world-class excellence. His first independent work was with the movie, Perfect Husband in 2003. Later he worked for films like Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black and Saawariya, Shimit Amin's Ab Tak Chappan, Ketan Mehta's Mangal Pandey: The Rising, Rohan Sippy's Bluff Master, Shashant Shah's Dusvidaniya and Chalo Dilli, Aparna Sen's 15th park Avenue, Abhishek Chaubey's Ishqiya, Vishal Bharadwaj's Maqbool, The Blue Umbrella, Omkara, and Kaminey , 7 Khoon Maaf to jot down a few. Besides, he has also worked on many documentaries and short films that have been showcased in film festivals around the world. In 2011, he made his critically acclaimed Hollywood debut with DAM999. With this, Shajith has proved that he is a talented technician of an international caliber. Currently, he is working on several new and exciting projects such as Reema Kagti's Talaash, Saahil Prem's upcoming project titled, Someday... to name a few (many others are in the pipeline and will be announced soon). A perfectionist technician, Shajith works effectively with the director as a creative partner only to bring out the best piece of storytelling with every film he works on. He also closely collaborates with the Music Director of the film, to ensure that the sound design doesn't hurt the mood of the film. Even after working for long hours and meeting the demanding schedule of deadlines, "aesthetics" remains a top priority to him. He believes in approaching "sound", by merging technology for virtually creating the experience of reality. For Shajith, it's only a "good script" and a strong "directors vision" that matter and from thereon he works in the best interest of the film. He definitely possesses the midas touch when it comes to "sound design". He plans to break new grounds with every project that he undertakes, focused on delivering the best quality for sync sound recordings in films. It's much due to he's contribution that sound design and the sync sound method are already gaining a rising prominence in Indian cinema. Born and brought up in Kannur district of Kerala, he certainly has strong roots too deep in the rich culture, tradition and natural beauty of his native land. He draws his sensitivity and inspiration from such "real-world observations" which allow him to have a unique creative advantage, over many others in the field. Shajith takes a keen interested in "storytelling of the sound" from the script-level itself. He effectively blends the audio with the visual design of the film in a much seamless manner, as a result generating an engaging movie-viewing experience that is unforgettable to an audience. |
