Biography | Born in Switzerland, with German, Swiss and Italian ancestors, Silvia Crastan trained from age 7 as a Violinist/Musician and performed as a freelance musician (Supported by Pro Helvetia) and with her sister Eva Crastan (Piano) for 20 years before embarking on an acting career.Her concert activity lead her to many places like India, Mexico, Palestine, China, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Egypt, Poland, where she eagerly studied local cultures and languages, having had always and interest in sociology and analyzing human behaviour in various settings and situations.Her father (Born in Genova) Valentin Crastan is an engineer and book author(Elektrische Energieversorgung 1,2 and 3)and her German mother was working as a secretary for Brown Boweri.Silvia was educated in Switzerland at Biel/Bienne Grammar School, but happily left at age 17, to study with Violinist Nicolas Chumachenco, Israeli Alexander technique teacher Noam Renen, Pianist Daniel Hoexter and Vocal Coach Martina Steiger. In 1999, she then went on to the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, having won a bursary from Dienemann Stiftung (Luzern).The death of her best friend and partner in 2008 brought quite a drastic change to her life and she took up her true vocation, which is screen acting, training Drama at City Lit, Central School and Actors Temple in London and International Academy of Film and TV in LA.She got her first acting role in 2011 in the short silent movie "Boundless Maze" by Chul Woo Aaron Cho, then appeared in 2012 as "Miss Delaney" in Alize Speed's short film "Skeleton Key", followed by lead roles in 2013 in "The Island" by Danish Wakeel, the horror Short "Hunter Gatherer" by Matthew Easy and "Come Home" by Janus Vicius.Silvia appears also with Phoenix James (Director of the US TV mockumentary "Love Freely and Pay for Sex") in the genero tv award nominated music video "child" by Richard Paris Wilson and worked together on a vintage still shot with Ken Smart(2012 BEFFTA Award for best black actor)In 2012 she was one of the Gravity Dancers at the London 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony.Silvia has worked as model with the "photographer of the stars" Alistair Morrison, with the "fake" Celebrity Photographer Alison Jackson and with the upcoming young Korean artist Chan Hyo Bae.She will have two very short TV appearances later in the year in "Holby City" as Teddy's Mum and in "Legacy" as Simon Russell-Beale's Mi6 Secretary Maureen in a short interaction with Charlie Cox.Silvia was always a great fan of Fellini's movies, Alan Delon's gangster roles, James Bond and British Comedies like Bridget Jones Diary and Hot Fuzz. She was happy working recently on the new Edgar Wright film "the world's end", meeting the funny duo Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.She is producing her first short film "Ramsey and the Child" in October 2013 and is planning after that to do a web series written by the British screen writers Mark and Jonathan Brown.She is looking for an agent in LA at the moment, working on getting an US Visa for 2015. |
